McKenna Matins
I’m the owner of The Gentle Hour Birth Services, a certified birth doula, childbirth educator, and Level V nursing student. In August 2026, I will begin the Midwifery program at the University of New Mexico, further advancing my commitment to supporting individuals and families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. I created The Gentle Hour to offer grounded, heart-centered support through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum - because I believe that the people who nurture life deserve to be nurtured, too.
At home, I’m a wife, a proud mother and expecting our second child come July. I come from a big, lively family as the oldest of eight kids, and it’s always been a dream of mine to have a big family of my own one day. That deep-rooted love for family is what fuels my passion for birth work. When I’m not studying or supporting families, you’ll likely find me out in nature—camping, hiking, or planning my next travel adventure. Being outdoors keeps me grounded and connected to the rhythm of life I try to honor in my work.
I believe in mothering the mothers—offering calm presence, informed guidance, and fierce advocacy to those who are so often holding everyone else. My approach is warm, personal, and centered around your unique experience.
Holding space and supporting the ones who hold everyone else.

“If I could change anything about my first two births, it would be having help from The Gentle Hour Birth Services.” - Amira M.
