Hello! I’m Miyoko and I am a birth doula and childbirth educator. What I love most about this work is being able to make a difference for new parents in the wonderful but challenging, life-changing experience that is birth.
After a lifetime of interest in childbirth, and an ill-fitting career in the restaurant industry, I found my way to doula work in 2011 and have been attending births ever since. I’ve attended at all the birthing hospitals in the ABQ metro area, and can provide insight to navigating the medical system no matter what your individual preferences for your birth may be.
I believe that a physiological birth is what is most beneficial for healthy moms and babies, that medical interventions should only be used when there is clear, substantiated evidence that mom and/or baby are experiencing complications, and that judicious and compassionate use of pain medications should always be considered. My dream is for all people to have confidence in the process of birth, to face uncertainty with courage, and most of all to have a satisfying birth experience that brings partners closer together and enraptured with their new baby.
