| My name is Louise Self, and I have been supporting Women in pregnancy, birth and postpartum, as a private Doula for over 5 years now and I dearly love my work!
As I continue to expand and grow on my knowledge, deepening my intuition and wisdom, I have received training through Inspired Birth and Families, with on-going training as a Mentor and childbirth educator through Birthing From Within. I am also studying Midwifery through the National College of Midwifery, with future plans of opening my own practice. My back ground in education also includes: Certified Nursing Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, and CPR certified. I also have been a Private Nanny for over 6 years, I am fondly known as the “baby whisperer”! It was after the birth of my first child that I knew my true calling and passion in life, supporting women and their partners on such an amazing and transforming journey. It was an experience that opened my eyes and heart, understanding that more women wanted the additional caring, attention and emotional support that a Doula can offer, thus my journey begun! I have two sons, my first I birthed in Hospital, and my second, a home water birth. Having my own two very different experiences of birth, knowing that each one has its own very unique way of unfolding and bringing along with it the many different ways women can cope. I feel I am able to support all women in their desires and choices of birthing as you define it.
